Saudi Arabia Unified Charging Port Requirement – Now in Effect
As of January 1, 2025, Saudi Arabia’s CST and SASO have implemented the first mandatory phase of the USB Type-C charging port requirement. All covered electronic devices must use USB-C to be sold in the Saudi market.
Phase 1 (Active): Mobile phones, tablets, cameras, e-readers, gaming consoles, peripherals, navigation devices, and wireless routers
Phase 2 (Effective April 1, 2026): Laptops
Importers and manufacturers must ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g. SASO IEC 62680 series) and maintain valid, up-to-date test reports from accredited laboratories for IECEE certification.
