Indonesia Updates LTE & 5G Technical Standards – Early Preparation Strongly Recommended

Indonesia’s DJID (Komdigi) has released updated technical standards for LTE and IMT-2020 (5G) devices, replacing the previous regulation KM No. 352/2024. This update expands the scope of high-speed connectivity hardware and introduces new compliance obligations for manufacturers targeting the Indonesian market.

Key highlights include:

  • New frequency support: 4G/5G standards now include the 2.6 GHz band (b41/n41), enabling broader deployment opportunities.
  • Expanded device coverage: The regulation now covers 5G repeaters and introduces updated emission limits for the 850 MHz band (b5/n5).
  • Mandatory recertification: Devices already certified must undergo recertification if b41 functionality is to be activated.
  • Transition timeline: Testing under the new standards is effective immediately, with a 1-month grace period before KM No. 352/2024 is fully revoked.
  • Upcoming in-country testing requirement: Starting in 2026, DJID will require in-country testing in Indonesia, making early planning and local support essential.

To support a smooth transition, BACL works closely with trusted local partners in Indonesia, enabling efficient in-country testing, certification, and regulatory coordination under the new DJID requirements.
