While no major changes to FCC or ISED Canada equipment certification regulations have recently taken effect, manufacturers should continue monitoring the latest FCC Knowledge Database (KDB) publications and ISED Radio Standards Specifications (RSS) guidance before submitting new certification applications. The FCC regularly issues KDB guidance to clarify equipment authorization procedures and testing requirements, while ISED updates its RSS documents to reflect evolving regulatory expectations.
Particular attention should be given to products incorporating Wi-Fi 6E/7, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), 5G Cellular, Wireless Power Transfer (WPT), and satellite-enabled technologies, where testing methodologies and certification interpretations continue to be refined through guidance documents. Although the underlying regulations may remain unchanged, updated KDB and RSS guidance can affect test procedures, application documentation, and certification review processes.
Please feel free to engage with BACL early in the product development cycle to ensure compliance with the latest regulatory expectations. BACL will help to minimize certification delays and facilitate timely market access in the United States and Canada. For further discussion, please contact sales@baclcorp.com.
