Service and Facilities - NEBS

NEBS (Network Equipment Building System): BACL has the capability to test your NEBS equipment to ensure it does not interfere with other electronic equipment through electromagnetic radiation, improperly grounded systems, poor electrical power connections, excessive heat/ blockage of the natural air flow, or inefficient connecting wires and cables, etc.

Telephone companies typically place a large amount of network equipment, often from different manufacturers, into relatively tight association, especially in their central office buildings. NEBS testing ensures that purchased equipment is easy to install, operates reliably, and efficiently occupies building space. Physical configurations and compatibility of equipment with known environmental conditions help reduce product installation and maintenance costs.

Bellcore GR-1089

For marketing to the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC’s) or Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC’s), products must be tested in accordance with the Telcordia (formerly known as Bellcore) set of industry standards, Originally established by a group within Bell Laboratories, Telcordia standards minimize the risk of telephone service interruption resulting from third-party product failures. Telcordia specifies an extensive list of EMC, product safety, and environmental requirements.

Since the formation of RBOC’s, each operating company has adopted its own interpretation of the Telcordia standards. As you can see this can be very complicated but BACL can help you understand those very important Telcordia requirements!

With our vast experience, we are qualified to assist you in testing your products to meet GR-1089-CORE for EMC, Surge & Electrical Safety requirements.

Our NEBS services include:
