revised Permit-But-Ask Procedure as documented in KDB 388624 D01 (9/22/2009)
This
document identifies the types of devices subject to a Permit But Ask (PBA)
Telecommunications Certification Body (TCB) / FCC review prior to equipment
authorization; describes a procedure whereby test firms, manufacturers, or
responsible parties (per Section 2.909 - parties responsible for compliance
of radio frequency equipment) may obtain FCC guidance for testing of these
devices; and outlines a PBA approval process for TCBs to receive the
endorsement of the FCC for measurement procedures, test methods, test
equipment, etc. used to demonstrate compliance of these devices with the
rules. For any Form 731 application filing submitted under the PBA
procedure, it remains the responsibility of the TCB to ensure that the
entire filing is in accordance with FCC rules and policies.
Major Change: FCC added
3GPP2 EV-DV devices which are required to perform SAR evaluation is subject
to Permit-But-Ask Procedure per KDB 388624 D01.

FCC revised permissive
change policy as documented in KDB 178919 D01
The
permissive change rules in Section 2.1043 describes the modifications that
may be made to an RF device without filing for a new equipment
authorization; define the three different types of permissive changes; and
identify when a permissive change (PC) filing with the Commission is
required.

Modular Approval
Policy is changed after April 15, 2008
Based
upon March 25, 2008 TCB/FCC conference call and FCC Public Notice (FCC
07-56), FCC will start to accept applications per section 15.212 Modular
Transmitters requirements after April 15, 2008. After April 15, 2008,
section 15.212 will be the governing rule section for modular transmitters.
FCC Public Notice DA 00-1407 will be replaced by section 15.212. |
