Fujian BACL was formally recognized as listing laboratory of CPSC on October 10, 2018, and it can offer children’s products and decorations’ testing services for the US market since then. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is one of the United States federal government agencies, and its aim is to protect the public’s interests and reduce the risk of injury or death caused by the use of the products, which are under the jurisdiction of the CPSC. For example, to protect consumers and families from potential safety hazards such as fire, electrical accidents, chemical hazards and mechanical hazards, and to ensure that those consumer products such as toys, cribs, power tools, lighters, and household chemicals are secure.
ASTM F963-17, namely Toy Safety Standards, is a comprehensive set of standards involving a large number of known toy-related hazards, and its early version is a voluntary industry consensus standard. In 2008, CPSC issued the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, which specified that the Toy Safety Standards was then will be implemented from voluntary compliance to enforcement nationwide. For International trade in toys, the toys that do not meet ASTM F963 requirements shall no longer be allowed to enter the U.S. market.
