Business Account Manager

Job Overview

The primary focus of a Business Account Manager is new business development; acting as a sales liaison between BACL and customers, understanding current customer goals (regulatory compliance, testing, and/or certification), and developing relationships with new accounts. We are looking for a friendly, self-motivated representative with experience selling services over the phone, via e-mail, and face-to-face. The ideal candidate will be one who will bring in new business, can maintain good customer relationships, is able to hit sales quotas, and wants to enhance his/her knowledge. 


  • Identifying industry business opportunities by identifying potential clients and evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analyzing sales options
  • Utilizing sales planning tools and the pipeline management process to exceed business objectives and goals
  • Maintaining relationships with existing clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities. Penetrating existing client base and increasing revenue
  • Meeting minimum standards for calls, quotes and sales quotas.  Conducting calls and face-to-face meetings with customers
  • Identifying improvements or new services by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors; maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Responding to customer requests and achieving monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets within a specified time frame
  • Working with various teams to ensure proper customer service is being delivered
  • Developing quarterly travel plans and schedules; attending industry events and trade shows
  • Preparing periodic sales activity reports for management
  • Maintaining a positive, customer-focused attitude in a highly intense environment 


  • Bachelor’s degree; Engineering degree is a plus; at least 2 years of outside business sales experience
  • Knowledge of market research, sales, and negotiating principles
  • Knowledge and competence in the major elements of outside sales, including cold calling, business development, customer qualification, and customer acquisition
  • Superior sales planning and business development skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and CRM Software
  • Self-motivated, with superior problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Able to effectively prioritize sales efforts and activities
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to build relationships and be a team player
