SPDDI Indonesia now accepts BACL Test Reports: With effect from 12 July 2019, SDPPI (the regulatory authority in Indonesia) has directly accredited Bay Area Compliance Laboratories Corp. (Sunnyvale, CA, USA).  This Direct Accreditation is based upon Indonesia’s and the USA’s memberships in the Asia-Pacific Telecommunications Mutual Recognition Arrangement (APEC Tel MRA), and, upon BACL Sunnyvale’s ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation Scope and Certificate issued by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).  Due to this Direct Accreditation by SPDDI, Indonesia will accept EMC Test Reports and Unlicensed Wireless/Licensed Radio Test Reports from Bay Area Compliance Laboratories Corp.  Please contact our Sales Team for further information if this is of interest to you.

Recently Published Regulatory Standards:

Japan MIC: A new Regulation (that became effective July 11, 2019) governing 5 GHz IEEE 802.11ax was recently released. This Regulation provides an Extension to the 5 GHz Band (W56 144/142/138 CH), and, it changed the W53’s DFS radar patterns.  Please contact our Sales Team for further information if this is of interest to you.

ISED Canada:

Pending Updates to Major Test Method Standards:

  • ANSI C63.10 Compliance Testing of Unlicensed Wireless Devices: The Draft of the next edition of ANSI C63.10 [entitled “Standard for American National Standard of Procedures for Compliance Testing of Unlicensed Wireless Devices”] is now in its final balloting phase, and is expected to be approved for publication within the next 90 days. Both the FCC and ISED Canada were deeply involved with the development of this version of ANSI C63.10, and both are expected to allow its use in early 2020, and after a transition period (expected to be 1 year), it will become mandatory for use. This new edition will replace ANSI C63.10-2013 and includes many new items.  BACL was a major contributor to the development of the new items in ANSI C63.10, and is a member of the Ballot Pool that will vote to approve, reject, or modify the draft of ANSI C63.10.  Please contact our Sales Team for further information if this is of interest to you.
  • Design Lights Consortium (DLC) Horticultural Lighting: the DLC has released the Draft of Version 1.2 of the “Testing and Reporting Requirements for Horticultural Lighting”. This Standard is expected to be approved in final form and will become mandatory on 15 October 2019. It adds new testing and reporting requirements in the 700 – 800 nm far-IR band.  Please contact our Sales Team for further information if this is of interest to you.

BACL Goes Green: BACL has completed the installation of a new, state-of-the-art, 155 kW Grid-Tied Solar Panel- Inverter Power System on the roof of our Laboratory building, and, the installation in the High Bay of 15 new Super-High-Energy-Efficient, daylight-color temperature, integrated quad-tube LED fixtures and lamps.  The Solar Panel- Inverter Power System will offset at least 87% of BACL’s total electric usage, and the LED lighting will reduce BACL’s total lighting-related electricity consumption by more than 12% while raising the light levels in the High Bay by more than 40%.
